Physical-Chemical Properties Modification of Hermetia Illucens Larvae Oil and Diesel Fuel for the Internal Combustion Engines Application

The use of insects as a biofuel feedstock has received limited research, and little is known about the fuel characteristics insect biofuel. Fuel properties characterization can guide researchers focused on renewable for internal combustion engine. Therefore, this investigation physical-chemical modification Hermetia illucens larvae oil (HILO) diesel blends, which could highly become an alternative fuel. Five test blends HILO were prepared at 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% volume basis. such chemical composition, density, viscosity, heating value, cetane number, flash point analyzed compared to main HILO-diesel determined following ASTM standards. Based results, fuel-HILO increased by 11.28%, 740.30%, 16.92%, 86.67%, respectively, with addition HILO, except value reduced 13.66%.
